Our Philosophy

The Okanagan Christian School is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide a spiritually oriented education for children. A belief in the existence of the Creator God is fundamental in the philosophy of Seventh-day Adventist schools. We respect His divine authority and recognize His intervention in human affairs. We believe that true education develops the spiritual, mental, and physical powers of each student; preparing them for the joy of service in this life and for the higher joy of service in the life to come. We hope to inspire and equip wholehearted followers of Christ; guiding them to stand firm in biblical truth with faith and wisdom, avoiding the deception of sin, and to joyfully prepare for Christ’s glorious return, embracing His promises with hope and readiness. To achieve this goal, we encourage each student to:

  • Develop a personal relationship with God and others as stated in Matthew 2:37-39.
  • Master essential academic skills, including literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
  • Grow into who God has called them to be through academic rigour, physical activity, and service.
  • Cultivate physical fitness, mental ability, and character development.

The Okanagan Christian School is operated in harmony with the guidance and direction of the Office of Education, North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

A Message From The Principal

OCS is more than a school, a community, or a church—it’s a family, a safe place, and a home. At OCS, I have the privilege of welcoming alumni back ten years later to a place where they felt genuine love from teachers, built true friendships with peers, and knew they belonged.

As principal, I wear a lot of hats to stay connected with our students. Whether I’m teaching kindergarten art, leading upper elementary woodworking, navigating middle school puberty content, advising the yearbook, coaching flag football, or even driving the school bus, I joyfully reject the idea of being just “the guy in the office” or a disciplinarian. Instead, I get to be an active part of helping students develop a servant’s heart, a drive for excellence, and a respectful character.

Thank you for trusting me with the privilege and responsibility of helping your children learn and grow. I look forward to another year where Christ continues to be our foundation as we aim for excellence and dare to S.O.A.R!
